Types of John Lewis Broadband Packages

John Lewis offers a selection of three different broadband packages and they all come with a line rental included. If you have a John Lewis broadband package, you’ll also receive free evening and weekend calls to local numbers. However, if you require calls at all times during the weekdays too then you can get ‘Anytime’ calls for £5 a month.

Here are the broadband packages that John Lewis provide:

Unlimited - 10Mbps

Fibre - 36Mbps

Fibre Extra - 66Mbps

Unlimited

This is John Lewis’ entry level broadband plan and it offers customers average download speeds of 10Mbps, these speeds are delivered to your home through the use of Openreach’s copper cables. The Unlimited broadband package should be enough for smaller households that occasionally use the internet and don’t have many devices that are used simultaneously. If you only use the internet to browse social media, shop, stream music, make video calls on services such as Skype and Zoom and watch catch-up TV, this broadband plan may be the right choice for you.

Fibre

John Lewis’ Fibre broadband package provides you with average download speeds of 36Mbps (which is just over three times faster than their standard ADSL broadband package). With this broadband package you’ll be able to carry out more demanding tasks whilst using the internet. For example, you’ll now be able to stream 4K video as well as play online video games. Unlike the Unlimited broadband package, this package uses fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) technology. This means that fibre optic cables will be used from the telephone exchange to your nearest green street cabinet, then copper cables will be used to deliver the internet connection to your home.

Fibre Extra

This is the fastest package offered by John Lewis Broadband, with average download speeds of 66Mbps. This is a great option for households that are quite busy, using multiple devices all at the same time. For instance, households where individuals are streaming 4K videos, online gaming, and even working from home.

Why Pick John Lewis Broadband?

No Activation Charges

With John Lewis Broadband, you won’t face any activation charges unless you need a phone line installed, which will cost you £49.99. This means that for the majority of customers, the activation process will be seamless and free of charge.

Wide Availability

John Lewis’ Broadband packages are widely available throughout the entire nation. Especially the Unlimited broadband package that is currently available in around 98% of UK homes, this is because it uses Openreach’s copper cable network.

The Fibre and Fibre Extra plans are available in over 90% of UK homes and they use fibre-to-the-cabinet technology to provide customers with faster and more reliable broadband in comparison to a standard broadband package.

Call Plans Included

With all John Lewis Broadband packages you’ll receive evening and weekend calls, free of charge. The ‘evening’ in these broadband packages counts as 7pm-7am and all calls will only last for a 60 minute time period.

If you’d like a call package that allows you to call people at all times, you can add on ‘Anytime’ calls for an extra £5 a month.

John Lewis also offers an international calling plan, which is great for those who wish to stay in contact with people that live abroad. The international calls package gives customers a choice of 35 top destinations worldwide that they can make calls to for a monthly fee.

Unlimited Usage

Similar to many of the UK’s internet service providers, all of John Lewis’ broadband packages have no usage limits. Customers can use the internet as they please without having to worry about facing any extra charges for their internet usage.
